Visit to Palmaz Winery and Porsche Race Car Collection

 

A month or so ago Eileen and Bob Lundin had the opportunity to visit the Palmaz Winery in Napa, California. Dr. Julio Palmaz, a San Antonio surgeon who invented a heart stent bought the abandoned, 80 year old Cedar Knoll Winery in Napa. He is a racing enthusiast and participant for many years and has now amassed a very rare collection of  amazing Porsche race cars.
  1956 Porsche-Cooper  
  1958 Porsche RSK-Porsche works car. Finished 3rd at LeMans in 1958 and 1st at 1959 Targa Florio.  
  1969 Porsche 917K. 917-023 was first Porsche to win LeMans (1970) and was Hans Hermann's last race.  
  1976-81 Porsche 936 works car. Had many configurations. Won LeMans in 1977 w/Jackie Ickx and Hurley Haywood.  
  1961 Porsche Abarth Carrera #1013, 1of 3 works cars with distinguishing front driving lights  
  1966 Porsche 906 LH Long Tail. One of 3 longtail, longnose prototypes built for 1966 LeMans. Finishd 4th.  
  1968 Porsche 907-025 kurz had rare rt hand drive & 8 cyl.engine. Won 1968 Targa Florio w/ Vic Elfords best race ever.  
  1963 Porsche 2000 GSGT  
  1969 Porsche 908 LH Long Tail Coupe built for 1969 Le Mans where it finished 2nd in very close race.  
  1960 Porsche RS60 works car 718-042 with special driving lights. 1960 Sebring winner & only RS60 to finish 1960 LeMans
