Fiesta Challenge is around the corner

Fiesta Challenge is right around the corner (Mar 16-17) and we need your help. Monetary donations are down quite a bit compared to last year and we could use more entrants in the Rally and Autocross. If you plan on donating or participating let us know as soon as possible.

Fiesta Challenge is our yearly charity event. The proceeds from this event will go to the Warrior and Family Support Center located at Fort Sam. I could tell you more about it but I’ll let them tell you:

“The Warrior and Family Support Center (WFSC) provides coordinated services to patients, next-of-kin and extended Family Members with a primary focus on Wounded Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom Warriors. It provides a friendly, comfortable environment in which to take a break, watch a movie on big-screen TVs, play video games, check email or use the Internet, select a book or magazine to read, make a phone call, or just grab a cup of coffee. Wounded Warriors and their Family Members visit the WFSC to maintain contact with other military members or extended Family Members, to receive emotional support, answers to their questions, and to extend their rehabilitation away from the hospital. The rehabilitation involves learning to cope with war related disabilities as individuals, as couples, and as families.”

Please take a look at their website:  https://www.samhouston.army.mil/asa/WFSC.html

Many of us are veterans or have/had relatives that served our country. Some of the service members need help for various reasons and the Warrior and Family Support Center is there to help. Besides providing funds we are also collecting supplies that are needed on a day-to-day basis. If you come by and want to bring some supplies please bring them with you and Shelley and I will make sure to deliver them.

Thank you for taking the time to read this email,

Mike

Another reminder:

The barn Door is located at 8400 N. New Braunfels Ave., San Antonio, TX 78209.  We start arriving at 6:15 pm with dinner to follow at approximately 7 pm.

Also, Shelley Matthews will be collecting items for the Warrior and Family Support Center at Ft Sam Houston.  I've attached the initial request information.  Several items are listed.  As a note, I went to Sam's Club and purchased items in cases that are much less expensive than buying them at the grocery store.  I'm sure Costo also has the same type of items in case lots.  Just a suggestion.

Normally, we present them with a check which include funds from the auction that we hold at Fiesta Challenge. This year, we’d like to also include items from their “needs” list (listed below). We may be adding to this list in the coming months. If you would like to donate items, we will have a collection box at each of the meetings on February 7th (at Checster's Hamburger Place) and March 7th at The Barn Door Restaurant and at the Fiesta Challenge Concours at Porsche of San Antonio. If you have items you’d like to donate but cannot bring them to the meetings or have questions, you can contact Shelley Matthews at (shelley.l.matthews@gmail.com or 830-438-0471)."

Registrations for 2019 Fiesta Challenge 16-17 March

Registrations for Fiesta Challenge have been very, very low.   It is critical that we get Concours registrations to me by Saturday 2 March (this weekend) so we can determine how many awards we'll need.  We order these awards from out of state and it takes approximately 2 weeks to get them.  I will be ordering awards for the Concours based on the number of registrations I've received by the 2 March date.  Any Concours registrations after that date will not be judged.

In any case, please mail your registrations this week.

The current registrations are as follows:

Concours                             17

Rally                                     8

Autocross                            11

Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.  I've attached the registration form for convenience

Needing Concours Judges for 2019 Fiesta Challenge 16 Mar 2019

I've started receiving registrations for Fiesta Challenge.   If you have any concours experience, we can use your talents.  We'll need judges as well as Timers.  A Timer uses his or her watch to signal the judges when the time has expired on judging a particular car.  It's very easy to do.  I've been doing these type of events for over 50 years now, and I always learn something new each year.

Come on out and volunteer, we would love to have you.

The concours will be at Porsche of San Antonio 9455 West IH 10, between Medical Drive and Wurzbach.
